18th Rainbow Reels Queer And Trans Film Festival Coming To Kitchener Waterloo
Southwesteren Ontario’s largest LGBTQ+ Returns to Region
By Suzie Taka

Don't Miss Our 18th Year Event

Southwesteren Ontario’s largest LGBTQ+ returns to Kitchener and Waterloo with local talent and international works, a comedy show, parties and more for the 18th Rainbow Reels Queer and Trans Film Festival

Kitchener - Waterloo, Ontario - October 12-21 2018

For 18 years, Rainbow Reels has been bringing stories of hope, hardship, love, laughter and triumph to big screens in Kitchener-Waterloo to showcase the often untold stories of LGBTQ2+ people locally and abroad. In between acclaimed films, this year’s festival opens with a romantic slow dance at the Walper Hotel in Downtown Kitchener, and closes with hilarious comedians bringing some levity to the difficulties that exist with “being different”. Everyone is welcome to all films and events.

Rainbow Reels centres queer and trans stories in Waterloo Region while demonstrating to a national audience that there is space for diversity and acceptance in our community. Featuring films from Hearts Beat Loud (father daughter indie band feel good film) to Rafiki (originally banned in Nigeria where it was made, but recently screened in it’s home country after acclaim at Cannes) organizers are excited to bring LGBTQ+ stories to both sides of King street.
