Waterloo Pedestrian Struck By Car Dies In Hamilton Hospital

Collision Occurred Outside Crosswalk Area

On Saturday May 5th, 2012 at approximately 12:55 p.m., emergency services responded to Erb Street just west of Fischer-Hallman Road in the city of Waterloo for a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

A 42 year old Baden man driving a blue Toyota eastbound on Erb Street was entering the left-turn lane to Fischer-Hallman when a   female pedestrian crossing the road northbound stepped in front of his vehicle and was struck. The collision occurred outside the crosswalk area.

The pedestrian sustained life threatening injuries and was transported by air ambulance to a Hamilton hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Police have identified the deceased as Vicki VOGEL, 52 years, of Waterloo.

Erb Street West was closed for three and a half hours while police gathered evidence at the scene. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
