What Are The Odds of Getting Real Gamblers To Participate in this Study? In Ontario, problem gamblers account for 60% of slot machine revenue, about $1.8 billion annually. In an effort to determine why slot machine gambling is the most addictive form of gambling in Ontario, The Gambling Research Team at the University of Waterloo has developed a simulator slot machine to mimic casino machines. This team uses a variety of techniques including questionnaires, interviews, psychophysical measures including heart rate, galvanic skin response (i.e. perspiration) while gamblers play in a the laboratory. Their work is supported by the Ontario Problem Gambling Research Centre.
