The Community Breathes Life Into
Worthy Program

The Waterloo Regional Block Parent  Program* is very pleased to announce that a call out to the community has brought new life into our program!

A group of volunteers who were shocked to hear in January the program might not survive came out to show their support and a new Board of Directors has been chosen to keep the program up and running in Waterloo Region.

The Block Parent Program is a National Program built entirely on volunteers who believe in living in communities that are safe. “There are programs out there to protect property whereas the Block ParentProgram is here to assist children, adults and seniors in an emergency, to contact loved ones or police safely” says Past Chair Mark Belanger.

“There is still work to be done however,” says new Board of Directors’ Chair, Kevin Regier. “The Waterloo Regional Block Parent  Program is in need of volunteers to become Block Parents. If you walk or drive down your street and you do not see a Block Parent  sign, then your neighbourhood needs you!”

The Annual General Meeting of the Block Parent Program is Wednesday April 29th, 2009 from 7 – 9 pm and will be held at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex, 101 Father David Bauer Drive in Waterloo. There is plenty of free parking and the community is invited to come out to meet your new Board of Directors and to learn about the Block Parent Program.
