Brian injury is an equal opportunity injury. It can happen to anyone and the facts are shocking. There are two kinds of brain injuries.

An acquired brain injury happens after birth and does not include genetic conditions. Strokes, tumours, drug abuse, poisonings or infections can cause ABI.

A traumatic brain injury (TBI) can be caused by car accidents, falls, and sports injuries. People with mild TBI can suffer severe life changing symptoms.

Did you know that?

  • More people suffer TBI annually than MS, HIV/Aids, Breast Cancer and Spinal Cord injury combined?
  • TBI is the leading cause of death in Canadians under 40?
  • 11,000 Canadians die of brain injury every year?
  • 50,000 Canadians suffer a brain injury every year?

Brian injury doesn’t only affect the injured person but their families as well. Injuries may be short or long term, and can be devastating leading to loss of jobs, depression, physical and behavioral issues.
